Last updated: 1 October 2026. MacDNA is designed so detailed monitoring activity stays on your Mac.

Monitoring data

MacDNA processes system and application activity locally. It does not upload process names, application lists, file paths, project names, ports, private notes, incident capsules, or monitoring history.

Licensing data

Activation sends a license key, application version, device label, and privacy-preserving installation identifier. The service stores a keyed hash of the license key and installation identifier, purchaser email, purchase reference, activation dates, and license status. Recovery requests place the entered address in an encrypted delivery queue. Completed requests clear the encrypted address and retain a keyed fingerprint for up to 24 hours; failed delivery jobs may retain the encrypted address for authenticated replay for up to 30 days.

Telemetry and exports

No analytics or crash-upload service is integrated. A diagnostic export is created only after explicit user action. You choose a redaction profile and review the exact output before saving.

Network endpoints

MacDNA contacts the licensing service for online activation. Checkout, recovery, device management, and offline receipt exchange occur only when you explicitly use the corresponding website flow. Signed builds may contact the configured update feed according to updater settings.

Deletion and retention

The 1–30 day retention control applies to metric history. Incident capsules persist separately until Delete All is used; Delete All clears local history and capsules without removing the locally verified license receipt. The final retention schedule for licensing records needed for purchase fulfillment, fraud prevention, refunds, and device limits will be published before checkout opens.
